SCHOOL NEWS: Tennessee State
Essay Contest, Chess Ninja, Christmas Magnets and Out of Uniform
1. Tennessee State Essay
Contest - This year, third grade students were given the
opportunity to participate in the Tennessee State Essay Contest for 3rd
through 5th grade. The topic
for the essay was citizenship. One of
the entries was selected from OLPH to represent our state, and that essay
belongs to Annabelle Kelly. She is the
winner of the Tennessee State Entry Contest this year representing students
from all over Tennessee in the 3rd through 5th
grade! Congratulations, Annabelle! We are so proud of you!
2. Chess Ninja - Chess Ninja is a
high-energy after school program that incorporates exercise, mindfulness, and
FUN into chess lessons. Students will laugh and learn while exploring the fundamentals
of chess, math, and
problem-solving! All kindergarten-6th-grade students at all levels from
beginner to advanced chess players are welcome! Chess Ninjas will meet in Mrs.
Monahan's Science Classroom on Wednesday afternoons from 2:30-4pm.

Kindergarten-2nd Grade Ninja Dates
January 10th, January 24th, and February 7th.
3rd Grade-6th Grade Ninja Dates
January 17th, January 31st, and February 14th.
Session 2
Kindergarten-2nd Grade Ninja Dates
February 21st, March 7th, March 21st.
3rd Grade-6th Grade Ninja Dates
February 28th, March 14th, March 28th.
Each session is only $60 for all 3 classes!
3. Christmas Magnets - Knights of Columbus Council 6099 will be
selling Christmas Magnets for $5.00 outside the gym entrance on Monday night December 18th. Proceeds will go to help purchase Communion
chalices for priests serving in Africa.
4.
Out of Uniform - On Tuesday, December 19th,
students are allowed to wear Christmas colors or shirts and jeans for a
Christmas out of Uniform day.
