SCHOOL NEWS:  Winter Daily Mass Notice, Deanery Reconciliation Services, Minecraft Design, Valentine's Dance, CRS Rice Bowl and Family Honor
1.      Winter Daily Mass Notice: If the school is closed due to inclement weather there will be no daily Mass.  If school is delayed we will have Mass at the regular time.  School closings and delays are announced on the 3 main news channels, parent alert and the OLPH Facebook page.

3.      The Makers Club Robots and Rockets Program are being put on hold for scheduling reasons. In its place, Makers Club will work on the design and building of a Minecraft server.
Who: All kids in 3rd grade or higher. The group must have at least 5 participants but not more than 10.
When: Weekly meetings on February 16, 23, March 1,8,15 and 22.
What: Projects include: Creating a virtual rendering of the school in Minecraft; Designing a Server and programming its features; and Learning how to record Minecraft videos and edit them.
Cost: $100 fee will include: Facilitator, 6 month subscription for the Makers Club Minecraft Server; and snacks. Participants will also need to buy a copy of Minecraft for PC if they do not already have one.

4.      Valentine Dance: Current middle school students (6th, 7th and 8th grade) of OLPH and St. Jude only are invited to a Valentine's Day dance on Saturday, February 13th from 7-10 P.M.  This dance will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 313 Sylvan Street, Chattanooga, TN 37405.  Entry fee of $10 entitles you to dancing to hit music by DJ April Eberly, beverages and light snacks.  No outside food or drinks allowed with the exception of students with food allergies.  No gum per the request of the Knights of Columbus.  Dress for the dance is formal attire. (In accordance with Catholic School dress policy, attire must be modest for entry into the dance.  We are requesting that all students be considerate with their cell phone use and respect their fellow classmates.  Anyone who is taking pictures or recording others without permission will have their device taken away and returned to a parent at the end of the dance.  For the safety of the students, parents or guardians must drop off and pick up their students at the door.  No students from other schools will be admitted to the dance.
5.      This Lent our school is participating in CRS Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program that helps families experience Lenten spirituality by living in solidarity with people in need around the world. CRS Rice Bowls will go home with each student on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. We will be collecting CRS Rice Bowls at the end of Lent, Monday, March 21st & 22nd.  Thank you for using CRS Rice Bowl with your family this Lent.
6.      Family Honor, returns to OLPH on March 19th for 7th and 8th graders.  More information will be sent out at a later date.

SPORTS NEWS
·         OLPH is the host for the 5th Grade Boys Basketball Tournament this year. The tournament will run for 4 days starting on Tuesday, February 16.  We will have 11 or 12 teams along with parents and grandparents coming in and out of our school over the course of the tournament. The dates of the tournament will be February 16-20. No games will be played on Wednesday.
·        St. Jude will be hosting the Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament starting Tuesday, February 16th.
·        Bright will be hosting the 5th Grade Girls Basketball Tournament this year starting of Tuesday, February 16th.

·        There will not be a Junior Varsity Basketball Tournament.
