SCHOOL NEWS: School Closed, CRS Rice Bowl, Family Honor, PDA AD, Yearbook Orders, Soup Labels, Preschool and Kindergarten Open House and Lost and Found
1.      As many of you have heard Johnny Hennen, husband of our Admissions Director, Teresa Hennen passed away this week. In support of the Hennen family and our co-worker and our OLPH families who may want to attend the funeral, we will be closing school on Monday, March 21. I know that this is unexpected and I hope that you will keep everyone in your prayers during this difficult time.
2.      Rice Bowls: Thank you for your participation in CRS Operation Rice Bowl. Please send in your containers Tuesday 3/22 of next week.
3.      Family Honor: Family Honor at OLPH.  Parents have you had “the talk” with your child? Do you know what you are going to say? Do you need some assistance getting the conversation started or just need opportunities to continue with success? Don’t worry…help is here! Join us at the OLPH Parish Life Center on Saturday – March, 19, from 8:00 – 4:00 for Real Love & Real Life. Parents this program is designed for you and your 7th or 8th grader.  It will bring you together with other parish families to learn about love, life, chastity and God’s gift of sexuality. You and your child will have the chance to enhance your communication skills, discuss true worth, guidelines for future dating and lots more.  Here, one parent shares what they liked most about the program, “It opened a door for me that wasn’t open before between my daughter and me.  I definitely feel more comfortable and confident discussing chastity with her.”  Real Love & Real Life is a fun, unique, interactive program presented by Family Honor, Inc.  The deadline for registering is Friday, March 4th. 4.      OLPH Yearbooks: Yearbooks are now on sale.  Forms are being sent home with students and are available in the School Office.  Order deadline is May 6, 2016.  Prices vary and checks should be made out to Lifetouch.
5.      Personal Display of Affection: Support our school and recognize your student, post a Personal Display of Affection ad in the OLPH yearbook.  Forms will be going home with students and are available in the School Office.  PDA submission must be received by April 29, 2016.  If you have any questions, please contact Carlene Evans at 622-1481 or email, bigorange@myolph.com.  Thank you for supporting the yearbook.
6.      The Labels for Education program is shutting down after 42 years. Please submit any labels you have been collecting at home so that we can submit them. Our school receives credit to purchase items from their catalog for our school. We will collect from each class the week of March 21st.  NOTE- these are not the same as Box Tops. Labels for Education are typically found on Campbell's soup products.
7.      Preschool and Kindergarten Open House:  Please join us on Monday, March 21, 2016 from 4:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M.  If you have a child, who will be four or five years old, before August 15th, 2016, come and check out our PreK program and our modified Montessori Kindergarten program.  We make learning fun!  Meet us in the Kindergarten classroom, underneath the church office.  Go to school.myolph.com for more information, or to schedule a tour, call Teresa Hennen at 423-698-3274 or email teresahennen@myolph.com.
8.      Lost and Found: We will be cleaning and sorting out the lost and found this week.  Please check to see if any of the items are your child's.  We will be sending what it not uniform items to Ladies of Charity and the unclaimed uniform items will be put in St. Cecilia's Closet.  Deadline is Monday, April 4th.

SPORTS NEWS
·        Notre Dame High School has partnered with the Atlanta Falcons for a FREE "Moms" football safety clinic on Wednesday April 20th beginning at 6pm.  Former Atlanta Falcons football players will cover topics related to youth safety, concussions, and proper football techniques.
