Choo Choo Fest - Mark your calendars for a fun-filled day for our OLPH
families. Saturday, September
24th OLPH Home
& School will be hosting our 3rd
Annual Choo Choo Fall Fest which
will kick off with the Grand Ram Tricycle Race at 9:15am,
continue with a fun festival with games, face painting, bounce houses,
hungry hippo, inflated twister game and activities to appeal to a wide
range of ages and will conclude with the Ram Walk and Choo Choo Bowl
XXVI. This is going to be a fun Saturday which
you won't want to miss! There are still sponsorship opportunities
available if anyone is interested, ranging from $100- $500. For registration forms
go to http://tinyurl.com/ChooChooFest. To volunteer go to http://signup.com/go/AtgKvY.
3.
Jammin Jars - Jammin Jars are needed
for the Choo Choo Fest on September 24th. Take an empty jar and "jam, it"
with stuff that goes along with the theme.
Jars can be decorated. Jars will
be priced and sold during the Choo Choo Festival. Jars can be delivered to the 1st
grade hallway up until Sept. 21. We are
asking that every family contribute a jar.
This was very popular at last year's festival.
4.
Kiss the Pig Contest - Starting this
Tuesday, we will be having a Kiss the Pig contest. Several of our wonderful
teachers (and even our awesome principal!) have agreed to participate. Here is
how this will work:
1. Participating
teachers will have a bucket in their classroom
2. Kids
can bring in their spare change or dollars to put in a teachers bucket. They
can choose any participating teacher they want, doesn’t have to be their
homeroom teacher!
3. The
8th grade will count the money often and let you know who is in
the lead! This contest will run through Friday, September 23rd.
4. The
winning teacher will be announced on September 23rd at the end
of the day.
5. The
winning teacher will be kissing a live pig at halftime of the Choo Choo Bowl on
Saturday, September 24th! Go Rams!
5.
AdvancEd Survey - As the diocese
prepares for district accreditation with AdvancED (SACS - Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools) and maintains a strong commitment to improve system
practices, the Catholic Diocese of Knoxville would like your input. This
information will be analyzed and used to complete an internal self-study for
the AdvancED Quality Assurance Review visit in February 2017. We value your
opinion and ask that you take the time to complete the survey: Catholic
Identity - Defining Characteristics. If you have a student or connection to
more than one school, please submit a survey for each school. Each
school's survey results will be disaggregated separately before assimilated
into the data from all the schools within the Diocese. In order to complete
the survey by September 23, 2016, please go to: http://www.advanc-ed.org/survey/public/0805250.
6.
Speech and Hearing - The Speech and Hearing Center will conduct
speech and hearing screenings for $20.00 on Tuesday, 9/27/2016 for children
PreK - 4th. Please make

The Catholic
Rams are enjoying a great season. The team is 6-0, and features a
dominating line. Catholic has won 23 straight games - - unprecedented in
the Rams 68 year history. Everyone is encouraged to join the "Ram
Walk" next
Saturday at noon before the Choo-Choo Bowl. A
gauntlet of fans will fill the area on the walkway between the church and
PLC to cheer on the Undefeated Rams. Go Rams!
Please use extra caution and drive slowly in the parking lots,
especially at the archway. Let's keep
our kids safe! Thank you, Fr. Jim.
