SCHOOL NEWS: 2018 Scholars, Leaders, and Saints Calendar, Ram Challenge Golf Tournament, Grand Ram Tricycle Race and Choo Choo Bowl, 5th Grade Service Project, Youth Group Activities, Help for Harvey, Girl Scouts and St. Vincent de Paul Craft Fair

1.      #2018 Scholars, Leaders, and Saints Calendar - Would you be willing to give 10 cents a day to help a child receive a Catholic education?  Our diocese has come up with a great way for you to do just that.  Be on the lookout for your opportunity to give the gift of a Catholic education and have the chance to win a little money! Information will be going home this week.
2.      2017 Ram Challenge Golf Tournament - The Golf Tournament that benefits the OLPH School Annual Fund will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017, at Black Creek Club. If your family or your business can support us as a sponsor, or if you would like information about registering for this event, go to http://school.myolph.com/support/golftournament.cfm for printable forms and online payment options. We have support opportunities ranging from $75 and up.
3.       Grand Ram Tricycle Race and Choo Choo Bowl - Mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept 30th for the 4th Annual Grand Ram Tricycle Race and Choo Choo Bowl XXVII featuring our Catholic Football team vs Sale Creek.  The fun will begin with the Grand Ram Tricycle Race where participants age PreK through adult are invited to join the fun.  Individuals will race on tricycles or big wheels (no Green Machines allowed) which you bring from home or borrow one at the event.  We will even have adult tricycles available for the older students and adults.  Trophies will be awarded to different age groups. Not only is this a great community event, but a wonderful fundraiser for our school.  Registration is only $12 per participant and includes an event t-shirt. Onsite registration is $15. Check in will begin at 8:30am and the races will start at 9am.  Following the race, the Ram Walk will start at 10:15am - come cheer on our Catholic Football team as they walk to the field!  Kick off for the Choo Choo Bowl XXVII will be at 10:30am. If you have a business or know someone who might be interested in being a sponsor for this event, please email Kari Hudson at kariklemm@aol.com for more information.  Sponsorships range from $100 - $500.  Your support is sincerely appreciated! For those who have been here before, we are rescheduling the Fall Festival games until October.  There is a wedding scheduled at OLPH on this day and we couldn't fit all of these fun things into a short window of time. Watch for more details on this soon! 
4.      5th Grade Service Project - The 5th grade class is collecting eclipse glasses to send to Astronomers without Borders, a nonprofit group. The group plans to distribute the glasses to underprivileged children in South America and Asia for the eclipse that will pass through those continents in 2019.  Please donate your glasses to the school. You may bring them to your child's homeroom teacher. We will begin collecting them after Labor Day until Sept. 29. 
5.      Youth Group Activities - For all families, The University of Tennessee is offering a Fellowship Day for Churches for the Homecoming Football Game of TN vs Southern Miss. Tickets are $25 each, which includes ticket, pregame tailgate at Lindsey Nelson Baseball Stadium with face painting, activities, access to playground, giveaways from the sponsor and access to autographs, inflatables and other games at the Vol Village. Deadline: Friday, September 15th.Make checks out to OLPH and turn into OLPH Parish Office. Total Lockdown at the YMCA, When: Friday, September 22nd. Time: 9:15 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Cost: $25 includes the YMCA, Pizza at midnight and snacks all night long! What will happen: Swimming, basketball, volleyball, flashlight tag, adventure area, games and many more surprises...Friends welcome! Deadline: Monday, September 18th Forms: Sent home with your children or in the back of Church by youth bulletin board.
6.      Help for Harvey - OLPH Junior Beta Club is collecting any loose change for the Harvey victims.  There are jars in each classroom for students to drop their change in. The money collected will be sent to Catholic Relief Services.  They will also be selling donuts before school on Tuesday, September 12th.
7.      Girls Scouts - Thursday, Sept 14th - OLPH Girl Scout Troop will meet in Holy Family Hall immediately following school until 5pm.  Girl Scouts may wear their scout vest or smock over regular school uniform.  If you were unable to attend our Ice Cream Social last week, but have a daughter from Kindergarten through 6th grade who is interested in joining our troop, please email olphgirlscouttroop@gmail.com prior to our meeting so we can send you detailed info.  
8.      St. Vincent de Paul - The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is currently seeking vendors for our craft fair on Saturday, October 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Vendors can secure a booth for only $10 and a pledge to donate 10% of their proceeds to the SSVdP.  Anyone interested should please contact Becky Valadie at 423-867-9491 or 423-503-1915.

SPORTS NEWS
·        Booster Club--BOOSTER CLUB MEETING - The booster club board would like to invite any and all parents to our next booster club meeting on September 13, 2017 at 6:30 in the OLPH library. We would like to bring you up to date on all the great things going on in our athletic program as well as answer any questions you might have.  Please join us if you can! If you would like to be put on the agenda with a specific topic, please contact Dawn Brown prior to meeting at dawnbrown636@gmail.com. Other booster club board members are: Kari Ingle, Emily Lindsey, Sharon Leath and Josh Roberts. GO RAMS!!!
