SCHOOL NEWS: Chess Ninja, Tuition Support, Middle School
Speaker and Catholic Schools Week
1.
Chess Ninja - Chess Ninja is a high-energy after school program that
incorporates exercise, mindfulness, and FUN into chess lessons. Students will laugh
and learn while exploring the fundamentals of chess, math, and
problem-solving! All kindergarten-6th-grade students at all levels from
beginner to advanced chess players are welcome! Chess Ninjas will meet in Mrs.
Monahan's Science Classroom on Wednesday afternoons from 2:30-4pm.
Session 1
Kindergarten-2nd Grade Ninja Dates
January 10th, January 24th, and February 7th.
3rd Grade-6th Grade Ninja Dates
January 17th, January 31st, and February 14th.
Session 2
Kindergarten-2nd Grade Ninja Dates
February 21st, March 7th, March 21st.
3rd Grade-6th Grade Ninja Dates
February 28th, March 14th, March 28th.
Each session is only $60 for all 3 classes!

Tuition
Support - The deadline for applying for tuition support
for the 2018-19 school year is February 9, 2018. All parents
applying for support must have a recent Parish Affiliation Form on file in

Middle
School Speaker - Holocaust Speaker: On Friday, January 26th at 1:30 PM., Holocaust Survivor
Sonja DuBois will be coming to OLPH to speak. Sonja is known as a "hidden
child" of the Holocaust because her parents placed her with others to hide
her true identity from the Nazis persecuting them. Sonja will be telling her
story to students in 5th-8th grade. Any parents or those in the parish
community are welcome to join. Please join us in the gym.

Catholic
Schools Week - This year for Catholic Schools Week we are
going to service the community by collecting items for, The Community Kitchen
and The Chattanooga Area Food Bank. Please
bring in donations by Monday, January 29th.

Mark your
calendars for January 30th!!! Between the end
of the Varsity Girls game and the beginning of the Varsity Boys game we will
recognize our 8th grade players and thank their parents for a great athletic
career at OLPH.

If you have a daughter in
grades 4-8th who is interested AT ALL in playing volleyball this spring, please
email me their name, grade and your contact info. I will be sending out an email
VERY SOON about open gyms and don't want to lose anyone. Again, this is not you
saying your daughter will play FOR SURE, just interested, so that I can keep
