3.      School Facilities If you are interested in reserving any of the school facilities outside of the school day, we now have a calendar in the school office that needs to be filled out.  This includes the Cafeteria, Library, Multi-Purpose Room and the Gym.  All groups and sports with on-going uses need to come by the office to be sure your space is reserved.
4.      Health and Hygiene: We want to take a moment and address some common concerns for students and parents alike. The transmission of germs is a concern at all times but especially during cold/flu season and when students are in close proximity at school. Please remind your students of the importance of hand washing/sanitizing throughout the day. Another way some illnesses can be transmitted is through saliva. Mono is a common viral infection that is transmitted in this way. It typically shows up with cold or flu-like symptoms and is contagious via contact while the child has a fever but through saliva after the fever is gone. Students should not share drinks or utensils at snack or in the cafeteria.  Finally, be mindful of when students report having a fever. Although we want everyone to be at school as much as possible, students with fevers should stay home rather than risk passing illness to classmates. Thank you for your support in fighting illness here at OLPH.
5.      Art Programs
·        ART EXHIBIT: 1st and 2nd grade are exhibiting clay angels and heart drawings in the Creative Discovery Museum during the month of January. Don't miss out on this amazing work from OLPH students.

6.      Challenge Island is a one-of-a-kind enrichment program on the cutting edge of STEM education and 21st century learning that is now offered Tuesdays after school for grades 1st - 5th.  Students will work collaboratively to create, think critically, and develop a love of science and engineering.  Challenge Island is loosely based on a well-known reality TV show and has kids dividing into tribes to take on a vast array of exciting challenges set on action-packed thematic "islands".  OLPH will offer Challenge Island classes from 3:30-4:30 on Tuesdays from January 19th through March 8th.  This action packed island is set in the Amazon rain forest and will offer a whole new jungle of challenges for adventurous tribes to tackle.  Cost is $95 for all sessions and registration is online at my.challenge-island.com.  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Monahan.

We can use all sorts of items - from artwork and timeshare stays to ballet lessons and tax preparation services. Businesses that you know will love the exposure that our auction can give them and are just waiting to be asked! SPORTS NEWS
·        The OLPH Rams basketball teams are gearing up for the 2015-2016 Season. We will be hosting many schools in our gym for games involving the 5th grade boys and girl's teams, the JV boys and JV girls teams and the Varsity boys and girls teams. We are asking our OLPH families for help with a few jobs that we need during these games. If you are able to help out by working in the concession stand or taking money at the door for entrance fees, you will be able to earn PIP hours for your work. You do not have to be a basketball parent to help out. We need for only parents of OLPH students to sign up (not older brothers or sisters).
Please use the link below to take you straight to the sign up sheet.
·        Boosters are able to take credit/debit cards both at the gate and for concessions.  In this way, OLPH hopes to make attending home games easier for parents on the go.
·        The Notre Dame Junior Swim team had an excellent meet last night against Ooltewah, East Hamilton, CSAS, and Hunter and Silverdale!! Isabella Kessler, Sophia John and Janie Haywood were part of the girls 200 free relay which came in first place. Miguel Villarba was part of the boys 200 free relay which placed first. Isabella had a personal best in the 50 free and 100 free. Sophia John swam well in the 50 free and 100 Breaststroke. Miguel had a strong race in the 50 free and 100 free. Janie placed 3rd in the 100 free and 1st in the 100 back. We are very proud of all our swimmers. Stay tuned for more results from these swimmers and others as they will all be competing at the Middle School Championship Meet next Sunday, January 24th in Knoxville. Great job guys!!
