SCHOOL NEWS - Girl Scouts, Praying Parents, Tuition Support and Virtus Training

·        Girl Scouts - OLPH Girl Scout Troop Ice Cream Social and information meeting - Thursday, Aug. 22nd 6-7pm in the OLPH school cafeteria.  Current scouts and any interested girls (Kindergarten – 8^th grade) and their families are encouraged to join us!   We will have an overview of the troop year, the Troop Handbook, and will do our best to answer any questions you may have about Girl Scouts, your scout level, and what OLPH Girl Scouts is all about!  If you have any questions, please contact us at olphgirlscouttroop@gmail.com.

·        Praying Parents - Draw closer to God through prayer and fellowship when you join Praying Parents.  Meet on Tuesday beginning August 20^th at 10:30 A.M. in the Parish Library.  If you are interested, please contact Lori Voges, lvoges@myolph.com.

·        Tuition Support - This light-hearted appeal can make a Big difference!  The Catholic schools in our diocese provide spiritual and intellectual growth to 3,200 students in our two high schools and eight elementary schools.  The need for supplemental tuition support has doubled over the past 5 years.  A record $4.2 million dollars in tuition support was given to families this past year.  Help ensure all children have the opportunity to enjoy a Catholic education by supporting our Catholic Schools Tuition Support Collection.  To make a gift, place your gift in the basket at Mass the weekend of August 17 - 18 or visit www.dioknox.org/holler.

·        Virtus Training - In order to fulfill your required parent volunteer hours by helping in the classroom, chaperoning a field trip, or working in any other capacity with or in the presence of students, the Diocese of Knoxville requires that you be Virtus trained. Upcoming classes in the area include:

· Tuesday, August 13, @ 5:50 PM at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul

· Monday, August 19, @ 6 PM at OLPH in the PLC 

· Tuesday, September 10, @ 6:30 P.M at OLPH in the PLC 

· Sunday, September 22 @ 4 PM at St Augustine (Signal Mountain)
